Cat Grooming and Nail Trimming

Most cats are extreme clean freaks and can spend upwards of 50% of their awake time indulging in some form of grooming. However, grooming is something they learn by copying the behaviour of their mother during kittenhood. Kittens learn to lick themselves by two weeks of age and are washing themselves by the time they are weaned from the mother cat. Nail trims are an important part of your cats care routine. Some owners are scared to cut their cats nails as they do not want to hurt their pet. If you chose to do it at home, we recommend using a small pair of nail clippers. However, at Torbay Road Animal Hospital, we will gladly help and cut your cat’s nails. The cost is $21 plus applicable taxes and takes minimal time! We will also reward your kitty with a treat for being on their best behaviour!
